History

Bags of Hope WNC was founded in 2015 by myself and my mom. We created this platform in honor of a foster child that was placed in our home. At 6 years old I did not understand why, when he arrived, he only had a Walmart plastic bag, a pair of mismatched socks, and pajamas that were too small for him.
It was then that the idea was born to be able to provide a bag for children and teens going into foster care in the three most western counties in NC. I named my platform Bags of Hope in wanting to give each child a bag of their own with items for their new homes. Since 2015 I have collected and donated over 5000 items for Bags of Hope. These items include a bag, small toys, toothbrushes, toothpaste, journal, small stuffed animal, hairbrushes, and other items based on age.
I have most recently added my Easter Basket drive that donates a filled Easter Basket to children in foster care in Cherokee and Clay counties. This is the second year of my Easter Basket drive and I'm so excited to be providing baskets to two of the westernmost counties.  To date I have collected and donated 114 Easter Baskets to Cherokee and Clay counties in NC.
